Bio-IT World has published a new article covering the maturation of ELN software beyond simply replacing paper lab notebooks. Often referenced in the article, “ELN Excellence: The New Lab Notebooks,” is CERF’s advanced approach to collaboration, IP protection, and mobility via our iPad app iCERF. The article reports that “for ELNs to truly replace paper, the next frontier is mobility. A keyboard and a mouse aren’t really replacing paper, points out Stapleton, but an iPad can be a true paper replacement. Mobile solutions that accompany the researcher promote interaction with both collaborators and instruments.” The article also touches on other CERF features such as Email-to-CERF and semantics-based ontologies.
